Devlog #5: Story of the game

So, I have the story line in mind but I have yet to plan it all out. Right now this is what I have in mind.

You wake up in a house and don’t know where you are. It’s not your house at least. You look around and see a man standing there. You ask who he is. He seems to be the god of fire and smithing called Hephaestus. He needs you to become his apprentice and help him create weapons and armor for the gods and people. He can’t keep it up himself so when he found out you (a blacksmith) died he brought your soul to olympus to work for him. Even though he says that you aren’t special you still think there's more to it than just dying at the right time and right place.

He gives you some items to start of with(this will become the tutorial). You will make a sword and give it to him completing the tutorial. Then you are given 2 deposit boxes where items will be dropped into for you to use. Whenever you make items and complete them you can put them in your weapon box. Gods will come by and buy those weapons from you. You can use this currency to buy books for research on new topics that will enhance your smithing. Maybe even learning magic in the process and enchanting weapons!

Because in the end the game needs an end goal since it's not a sandbox I need to do some thinking on that. What I initially thought of was becoming a god of forgery yourself. The problem there is that I have no idea if it makes sense to have two gods of smithing. There is also the idea of trying to win the war. The more and better weapons you make the more the war is progressing and winning. The more the greeks are winning the more people in olympus might come by or the more you can interact with them.

In the end I don’t want you to only be blacksmithing. But also roam around the area and do more than only mindlessly hit some steel. But that is far of from what I can do right now. We will eventually get there though!

I completed the dialogue mechanic yesterday evening so I am pretty hyped about finally implementing some story! Here is a preciew:
